It has been almost a year now since Kimand had our last litter of Ragdoll kittens. The two we kept, Bob and Patrick, are getting so big! They were cryptorchid, meaning their testicles were not descended, and had their surgeries in November 08. Bob is the biggest. He's our blue mitted. He's getting almost as big as Olivia. Olivia is a big Ragdoll girl. She was just at the vet and weighed 16 pounds.
Good news on Olivia. Six months ago she was put on Proin for what was believed urinary incontinence. Since then, we have changed vets, going back to the original vet we started with when we began breeding. The only reason we switched was because of the whole early altering thing. We wanted our kittens "fixed" before leaving us, and we had to find a vet who would agree to do that when they were 12 weeks. We're no longer breeding and that particular vet has left the vet practice he was with, so it was a no brainer to return to our old vet. He doesn't believe she has urinary incontinence. She's been off the medication now for a couple of days and so far, so good! Yea!
Let's see--we've had Oz to the cardiologist for a heart problem, and he is now on medication for it. Olivia's been to the vet and doing well. Dylan had a limp, but the vet decided it was self healing and it was! Dylan's ok now. Timon's been for his regular check up. Since it's been a couple years since his last distemper, he got that. He's doing good for 11. May need his teeth cleaned next year. So, next in line for a vet visit is Bon Jovi. I'm not giving him vaccines, but I am concerned about his teeth. He may have to have them cleaned.
There is never a dull moment when you have 12 cats!
Travelling anywhere now is going to be a huge challenge with Oz on daily meds for life. Fortunately, we have a pet sitter who is also a skilled vet tech.
Health to all. May the spirits of life bless you and yours.

The Start Of A New Day
Now that we've stopped breeding, our family still thinks we are crazy. We managed to find homes for some of the cats that we felt would be better off either by themselves or with one, maybe two, other cats. We tried to give Luci a really good home and she went on a hunger strike. What can I say? She likes it here.
Bruce left for his new home Wednesday. That was hard. I almost told them they couldn't have him, but I kept telling myself it was the best thing for Bruce.
I just got finished kitten sitting for a breeder friend. It's a good reminder why I quit. I had fun with the kittens, and there was no stress involved. I knew they weren't mine and I would soon give them back. I didn't have the monumental headache of trying to place them in homes. Dealing with people was not my favorite part of breeding.
For the most part, people that took our kittens worked out, but there were a few that managed to fool me. There are far too many people who see a pet as a mere commodity. As soon as the least little thing goes wrong, the cat goes. Or they move and abandon the cat (or dog). Come on, people, what's the matter with you?
I hope to be able to pick up the speed on this blog at some point. I'm a little brain dead at the moment and can't really think of anything except that Olivia needs her pill.
